The most beautiful beaches in Malta
Last but not least, holidaymakers come to Malta to treat themselves to a little relaxation on the beautiful beaches of the archipelago. There are picturesque beaches on all three islands. Flat beaches where families like to hang out, rough stretches of coast for surfers or quiet bays for two – the beaches on Malta make everyone happy!
Golden Bay
The main island of Malta, which bears the same name as the entire republic, impresses with wonderful places to swim. Although the island is extremely rocky overall, there are wonderful sandy beaches along the coast . One of the most famous beaches is Golden Bay . It is located on the northwest coast of the island and is perfectly equipped for tourism. Water sports enthusiasts can go water skiing, parasailing and paragliding here. For a little refreshment, go to a bar or restaurant on the beach. If you need a break from the sun, you can look around in one of the souvenir shops and buy a souvenir to take home.
Ghajn Tuffieha
A little insider tip is the Ghajn Tuffieha Bay . It’s quieter here than at the other seaside resorts on Malta. That may be because of the way there. Before you can swim and splash around in the shallow and calm water with your children, you have to go down a lot of stairs. The effort is definitely worth it.
Ramla Bay
Not only the large main island of Malta, also the sister islands shine with wonderful bathing areas. If you are in Gozo , you should not miss out on Ramla Bay . The extensive sandy beach really has it all and is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the entire republic. The bay is located in the north of Gozo and is a popular destination with tourists. There is plenty of space and red fine sand – perfect for a trip with the whole family. The nature that adjoins the beach is wonderfully original. In between there are always remains of the Romans and the Kalypso grotto is also located here.
That wasn’t even a handful of the beaches to look forward to on your Malta vacation. You can find more beaches and all information about them in my detailed article about the most beautiful beaches in Malta .
Top 3 sights in Malta
After sunbathing and swimming on the many beautiful beaches, you should also visit the various attractions of the islands on your Malta vacation. For a first impression, I will introduce you to the three most important sights in Malta. Pull out paper and pen, there is a lot to see!
Capital Valletta
Today’s capital of Malta and European Capital of Culture 2018 is a single sight. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is enthroned on a rock. Even the sight from the water is impressive. Starting with the imposing city gate and the fountain to a green oasis, the Upper Barrakka Gardens – Valletta is a gem among the capitals of this world. Magnificent buildings, pretty alleys and noble cathedrals adorn the historic city.
Blue lagoon on Comino
Comino is the smallest of the inhabited islands, but it is home to one of the most important sights of the entire republic: the Blue Lagoon. A bathing experience awaits you here that you will not soon forget. In the bay you can see crystal clear water in a radiant turquoise blue that you can only find here. Grab your snorkeling gear and start the adventure. You also have the option of just relaxing in the sun, enjoying life in a bar or café, or doing water sports.
Popeye Village
Popeye – many are familiar with the cartoon character from childhood. If you are a fan, you should not miss Popeye Village in the small bay of Anchor Bay, which is located in the north of the main island. The village is the former set of the Popeye movie starring Robin Williams. How good that the film set was never demolished, because today it is a popular tourist attraction. In addition to free boat tours and daily shows, you can also see the little houses with movie props. The Popeye Village is a real highlight on your Malta vacation.
