1997 Guyana

Indians from three countries in the Amazon - Brazil, Venezuela and Guyana. - gathered during the year for a meeting in the state of Roraima in Brazil. It was the first meeting ever between representatives of the Indians in the area. The reason for the meeting was the fear that future cross-border projects in the area could destroy their land areas.
